Drive a more efficient car

Your current used car probably averages about 20 miles per gallon and will emit about 50 tons of carbon dioxide over its lifetime. A car getting 40 mpg, like many of the new ones on the market, will emit half that much. Live Green, Save Green, with a 40-mpg car that will save roughly $3,000 in fuel costs compared with a 20-mpg car, over the lifetime of the car. The economy is shaky to begin with, so this isn't as easy as most of us would like, but if you are buying a new car, choose an efficient vehicle.
