That draft you feel from your windows and doors does more than cause you to wear slippers. You can reduce the burning of fossil fuels, cut your heating and cooling expenses, for a small investment of time and money. Use weather-stripping to seal drafts around windows and doors. If a draft comes through electrical outlets or switches on outside walls, install foam draft blockers behind the cover plates. Use covers (inside or outside) on air conditioners during cold months. Many older homes don't have enough insulation, especially in the attic. Make sure your home has adequate insulation by checking yourself or have it done as part of an energy audit.
